Cafe Creations
For a year after graduating college, I worked as a barista at a cafe that was located in a retail store. This wasn’t your typical cafe, as most of the people came for the high end clothes and accessories rather than a relaxing cafe environment. Because of this my coworkers and I had a lot of crazy customers and stories that only helped to create a bond between us.
As time our time together started to reach it’s end, I wanted to find was of memorializing our time together and the little family we made in that small cafe.
One of my first creations was a “Coffee Card” this was a small card I printed out for each person that had their regular coffee order that they would make on the shift. It had notes of what specific add-ons they liked, and room to write in more drinks.
I then made a “Family Photo” of all of the workers that we put up above the entrance to the cafe. It was a fun way to start your day off, and a great way to leave. I printed this out for the kitchen, and made additional prints that I gave to each worker and had everyone sign the back of the card, almost like a yearbook.
The last piece I made was for my coworker Ryan. She was so amazing at her job that she got promoted to assistant manager. Everyone in the cafe was excited for her, but it also meant she had to go work at a different store. As a goodbye gift, I created an “ID Card” that featured an “Ellie of the Month” section. I printed, laminated, and then hole punched the card where she was “EOTM” so she had a piece of our cafe when she left.
